Veterinary Surgeon and Postdoctoral Reseacher
Dr. Michelle Raiszadeh is a veterinary surgeon and postdoctoral researcher dedicated to helping cats with challenging conditions ranging from a saddle thrombus or FATE (feline aortic thromboembolism aka blood clot) and CHF (congestive heart failure) to hyperthyroidism, CKD (chronic kidney disease), IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), diabetes, skin conditions and a wide range of other health issues. Dr. Raiszadeh's Research
Back in 2011, Dr. Michelle Raiszadeh's beloved 3 year old rescue cat Tater Tot suddenly experienced a saddle thrombus aka a blood clot or aortic thromboembolism causing paralysis in both hindlimbs. Dr. Raiszadeh was conducting human medical research at the time and had never come across this condition, though she had been involved in cat rescue for many years. Dr. Raiszadeh visited multiple vet hospitals including emergency vet hospitals, cardiologists and primary care vets and they all told her the same thing, there is no safe or effective way to dissolve the thrombus and it is most humane to euthanize Tater Tot. Dr. Raiszadeh was absolutely devastated by this news and decided to take matters into her own hands and discovered a Japanese scientific publication using the thrombolytic enzyme Nattokinase to dissolve clots (aortic thromboemboli) in dogs. This inspired Dr. Raiszadeh to purchase Nattokinase and use it for Tater Tot. Nattokinase was able to dissolve Tater Tot's thrombus safely, restoring his circulation and mobility which amazed Dr. Raiszadeh. Dr. Raiszadeh decided to launch her own study using Nattokinase to dissolve saddle thrombi or FATE aka blood clots in cats around the world. Dr. Raiszadeh attended Royal Veterinary College where she continued her nattokinase cat research study. She is now a full-time veterinarian and postdoctoral researcher using Nattokinase to dissolve clots/thrombi in cats, dogs and rabbits. She is also working with local referral practices to dissolve these thrombi in a variety of species. Below is a video compilation showing some of the cats that Dr. Raiszadeh has worked with. These cats were experiencing a saddle thrombus or FATE and recovered after receiving Nattokinase.
